Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the location of the shelter confidential?
The Safe House for Women provides emergency shelter and support services to women and children who are fleeing situations that involve domestic violence.  Women come to the shelter to escape the dangers of their abuser. Safety is our number one priority for our residents. Maintaining the confidentiality of our shelter location provides an added security measure.

Can men also receive help from the Safe House?
Yes! While our shelter is able to accommodate women and children only, the Safe House's support services, such as counseling, case management and court advocacy are all available to male survivors of relationship violence.

Do I need an appointment to drop donations off at Safe House for Women Thrift Shop?
No appointment is necessary. Simply drop your items off Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Thrift Shop is located at 230 North Spring Street.  Thank you for thinking of the Safe House for your donations.
