Dear Friend of the Safe House,

             I’ve been staying here at the shelter now for 3 months.  The shelter has provided me with information on finding my own place to live as well as transportation to help me look for a job of which I have now secured.  They have also been there when I needed someone to talk to about my troubles.  The support group has been helpful because I can talk about the factors that put me in the situation I’m in without feeling any kind of judgment placed on me.

The Safe House offers many opportunities for women in similar situations as mine and without them I don’t know where many women would go.  Every woman here has a different story—but in the end it is the same story.  I’m on my way to securing my own apartment and now have confidence back in my life.  We all come into this shelter alone and afraid but we leave knowing that if we ever need help it is just a call away.  From the time we get here until the time we leave and thereafter we know that we have some kind of support out there.  We know that we aren’t alone.
