Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the location of the shelter confidential?
The Safe House for Women provides emergency shelter and support services to adults and children who are fleeing situations that involve domestic violence.  Survivors come to the shelter to escape the dangers of their abuser. Safety is our number one priority for our residents. Maintaining the confidentiality of our shelter location provides an added security measure.

Can men also receive help from the Safe House?
Yes! Contact our hotline for information about residential and support services for men.

Do I need an appointment to drop donations off at Safe House for Women Thrift Shop?
No appointment is necessary. Simply drop your items off Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Thrift Shop is located at 230 North Spring Street.  Thank you for thinking of the Safe House for your donations.

Can I drop my donation off at the shelter?
No. Our shelter location is confidential for safety reasons.  Our designated drop off center for items you would like to donate to the shelter is the Safe House for Women Outreach Office located at 230 North Spring Street.  Remember to include your name and address with your donation if you would like for us to mail you a receipt.

Do you pick up donations?
No, we do not offer donation pick-up at this time.

Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?
All donors are provided with a tax receipt. Financial donors will be mailed an acknowledgement letter which is considered a tax receipt. A receipt form is available for donors who give in-kind donations at the time of the donation.
